Over the past weekend, Northern District heald their annual Nite Hike in Broederstroom at what is known as the “Mosaic Factory”. This was organised by Northern Rovers and Midgard Rovers as a joint event.

An unspoilt part of the Magaliesburg. Luckily this was not as icy cold as last years Nite Hike that as held in an Urban settign around Sandringham.
Six patrols took part from within our District, Sandringjam, Halfway House, Jan Smuts,Tembisa and one from the nearby Hartebeespoort Scout Group.

The event was set around the central “Marshamallow Hill”. Six manned bases, with multiple unmanned bases were scattered around the area. The theme was CLUE, so patrols had to locate clues to the missing Scouter, the item missing and where it was located (similar to the game Clue).

The hike started at sunset, and proceeded through the night. Manned bases included “stalk the lantern”, observation, pioneering and many others.
The first patrols back arrived at 00:00, with the remaining following shortly thereafter. Sandringham returned at 01:40 after being persistent in finding the missing artifacts and clues. Sandringham patrol (Warthogs) hit a total of 5 manned bases, and collected 4 of the 6 artifcats.

The persistence paid off and Sandringham won Nite Hike by almost 200 points, finishing off with 254 points. Halfway Hosue placed second, and Temisa were third.
The Sandringham Warthogs patrol were: Ethan (PL), Daniel (APL), Vuyo, Lesedi, Thomas, Tim, Thami and Hloni.
